How We Build an Exposed Aggregate Driveway
1. Site assessment
We check gradients and drainage, mark out the layout and remove old concrete.
2. Excavation and formwork
We dig to depth, lay compacted road base and set the formwork.
3. Reinforcement and pour
Steel mesh goes in, then we pour and level a 32 MPa exposed aggregate mix.
4. Exposing the stones
A surface retarder lets us wash off the cement paste to reveal the stones. Control joints are saw-cut to manage shrinkage.
5. Clean and seal
An acid wash removes residue, with an optional acrylic sealer to finish.
Colour and Finish Options
We supply a colour chart so you can pick a mix that matches your home. An Indian ink oxide base makes the stone colours stand out, though it costs more than a plain base.
